PROFILE

Beth graduated with a B.Sc (Town and Regional Planning) from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1984. She is registered as a Professional Planner with the South African Council for Planners (Reg. No. A694/1992) and is a member of the SA Association of Consulting Professional Planners. She has extensive knowledge from her 30 years of experience, in both the private and public sectors. Beth worked for the City of Johannesburg  in the 1980’s and 1990’s as well as in 2005/6. She was in partnership with Barbara Quilliam in the 1990’s.  She was employed as a Senior Town Planner at Steve Jaspan & Associates and then at Tinie Bezuidenhout & Associates before venturing on her own and starting Beth Heydenrych Town Planning Consultant.


Beth has varied experience in all aspects of Town and Regional Planning, including large and small projects. Some of the projects which Beth has worked and is working on include:


•Town Planning work for the University of the Witwatersrand, Campus Planning & Development Directorate. This includes submission of applications for the University’s biggest capital investment to date, “Wits Junction” a residential campus adjacent to the Park Lane Clinic; rezoning land procured by the University for the Health Sciences Building in Parktown; obtaining the rights for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital; assisting with Site Development Plan approvals for the various Campuses; being a member in the project management team which was tasked with overseeing the creation of 2 new Universities for the Department of Higher Education, in Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape. Most recently the East and West campuses in Braamfontein require Township Establishments to comply with the SPLUMA regulations.


•Several projects for AdVtech Group ( Pty) Ltd, on Crawford and Trinity College schools. This involves multi-disciplinary project co-ordination and detailed attention to the needs of the developer within the educational sector. The applications submitted in this regard have included Township establishment, rezoning and consent use applications. Redhill School is another educational client who rely on Beth'sTown Planning expertise.

A number of rezoning applications for high intensity office rights, residential rights and mixed use rights for properties in various nodes including Sandton, Rosebank, the Sloane & Rivonia nodes and various other locations for clients including Growthpoint, Devcon, Lonsa, Boost and Caliber.


•A large mixed use development in Soweto for Foxlake ( Pty) Ltd which involved a series of sequential transactions to prepare the land for development.


•A variety of consent and rezoning applications for social facilities including schools, nursery schools, Churches, hospitals/ clinics and student communes. Clients in this sector include AdVtech, Rivers Church, Morningside, Abraham Kriel Children's Home and Sandton Hindu Samaj.


•Numerous rezoning applications for high density rights in parts of the city, where the City Council promotes higher densities, and for subdivisions in areas such as Bryanston. When dealing with individual property owners, Beth is particularly aware of the importance of guiding these clients through the development process and of assisting individual property owners with the many confusing decisions that need to be made.
